OUR STORY

A Family Newspaper at a new level

When Wisconsinite Atia Kampstra was about 6 years old, she watched a movie about people making newspapers. Well, she wanted 'a go' at it, too! Being a chicken lover, she called it "Chicken Feed News". She printed and drew it out all by hand. She'd make copies, roll them up with rubber bands, and give them to her younger sister, grandma, and parents. (She didn't even own chickens yet!)
When she was 8, her family got their first flock of laying hens. Then, they got six Barred rock chicks in April 2021. Four weeks later, Atia told her mom that she wanted to share the egg-citing news. That was the first, public CFN issue ever.

ABOUT CHICKEN FEED NEWS AND POM-POM.

We write newspapers with contests, reviews, current poultry issues, Q&As, and more.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE ARE NOT VETS. JUST BACKYARD CHICKEN OWNERS.

Most of our Q&As are from the elusive (possible raccoon reader) Pom-Pom. At first, her letters to the editor indicated she was from Hawaii, but it's hard to tell if that's the truth with her. She can be short tempered, too...

100% know you'll like it!

This is a fun newspaper for all ages and an entertaining thing to read. If you have cows, chickens dogs, or cats or any other animals, maybe you should try writing a paper about them, too!
